One of my secret weapons - HorrorSound.Org
Just had to throw a shout-out to one of my favorite, and totally insane, sample developers - Alessandro Romeo - formerly known for SampleTraxx, he now has a new site with new sounds at: HorrorSound.Org
This guy is bonkers, in a good way. He tortures and mangles cellos, violins, pianos, scrap metals, and anything else he can get his hands on. Absolutely wild and over-the-top strings scrapes, jete-dive-bombs, and jump-scares, as well as haunting drones, distant whistles, and mournful moans. Great stuff.
I bought all of his previous releases on SampleTraxx and used them all over the SAW scores and a bunch of similarly scary scores. His new stuff at HorrorSound is even better, but still has that wild and insane quality.
For the most part, these are NOT subtle sounds. He really puts the boot to 'em, and they will absolutely bring the pain to any wild, high-octane film or trailer cues you have on deck. All are provided as open WAV format sample packs so you can drag-n-drop to your timeline or into your sampler.
è pazzo! (Italian for.. he is crazy)
Check 'em out. I'm a fan.
